Who’s to say we don’t ( god forbid ) go on another December losing run?
He’s won just 8 league games - let’s not get carried away.
He may be the guy we’ve been looking for ( I sincerely hope he is ) but I would take a lot of convincing that other clubs are planning to snatch him after so few wins.

The whole point is that, even if we do, we should have the bottle to stick with a manager for some time, rather than changing tact every 6 months. And it's not really the results which I'm basing things on, it's him as a manager/person & his footballing philosophies.

He understands this league, he's done well with players he's mostly inherited & got the best from academy lads like Wozza + Cash + Yates, he's got naff all baggage, he's happy to work under a regime which loves to meddle & have it's input etc. etc.

The chaps a perfect fit for the club and things are finally going for us. 

It's like waiting for Marthur to renew Morgan's contract. There's no point playing hardball when the chap you've got is doing the business so well. Patience for patience sake is pointless. I don't want to extend Mouch's contract coz I'm impatient, I want to do it because we won't land a better fit any time soon.

But the season is barely 3 months old.
I remain firmly in the:
Win a few games in December.
Successfully negotiate the January transfer window.
Sit down with Sabri.

Why change anything? Even if offered an extension, doesn’t stop another club coming in for him, would just increase compensation. Look at solskjaer, everything is good, I would leave it until the season is done one way or another.

However if sabri is very keen and it’s something he’s worried about then obviously that changes thing but we don’t know either way

There is one important fact being conveniently over looked; he was completely happy with a one year deal and has said so many times.

I would love him to sign a long term contract because he is comfortably the best manager we have had here since Frank Clarke; I'm sure the Club will want him to stay but we cant have it both ways.

Lets say for example Everton try to turn Lamouchi's head, that filters through to the players and it can start to have an impact on performances. I am sure the players would love Sabri to sign a new contract and commit to the club.

He WAS happy with a one year deal but is he still? Things change very quickly in football. Now as things stand he has a 7 month deal. I think he's proved himself in every way and he ticks all the boxes and I also clearly remember the hint that he gave to our owners a few weeks ago during an interview when he said that 'maybe now I will get more time' or something along those lines.

Don't agree. At the very least a new contract lowers the risk of Lamouchi's head being turned. Why would a club chase a new manager who had just committed himself to another club for 2 or 3 years. They wouldn't waste their time. However a manager who only has a few months remaining on his present deal and sees no sign of another deal coming his way is open to offers.

Also when it comes to signing players, why would players sign for a manager with just a few months left on his contract, we would be a much stronger proposition for players if the manager was on a longer deal.

I'm totally with Dunc on this one. Unify & solidify the club as a whole, starting by rewarding the manager for his great work.

Every time we have the chance to fight our way out this hole like with Hart, Davies, SOD etc. we do ourselves over on principle.

I remember screaming that Marthur was a **** for not hurrying up & renewing Morgan's contract. Similar responses came my way. Years later those same folk now say "well we had to sell him, we had no choice, his contract was nearly out" as if we couldn't have renewed it a million times.

I want to see us sign a quality winger, a good backup striker, and another energetic CM midfielder, but first priority above all that for me should be ensuring Mouch is tied down to a longer deal asap. He's been nothing but outstanding, ticks every box, and is the perfect fit.

Another thing that nobody has mentioned yet regarding the above ^

I know it's possible worst case scenario thinking but lets just imagine that Sabri does get tempted away because we haven't moved to give him a new contract (not impossible). Lets say that he signs for Everton. I can already see the headlines in the newspaper the next day. Lamouchi wants Forest stars Matty Cash and Brice Samba to join him at Everton.

It's not just about a bit of poxy compo. The repercussions could be much bigger.

Thank god that I have faith in Vrentzos to get Sabri a new contract sorted.

Sabri certainly gave the big man a nudge last night.

A perfect January for me would be a speedy winger, Dwight Gayle and a new contract for Sabri.
