Lee Tomlin

I see it was reported today that Lee Tomlin isn't wanted at Cardiff. The stumbling block is his contract there runs for another year and his wages have gone up as a result of Cardiffs promotion which would be far too high for us to pay. Suggestions that a loan could be the best way forward for all parties.

I'd be interested in your views on Tomlin now we have spent so much on our attacking midfield.

My view, for what it's worth, is we should walk away from him. We no longer need him

Think we need someone more consistent than him now, especially until the new lads bed in.

Tomlin is one of those Curate's Egg type of players: good in parts, but inconsistent.
Put touch, and bargepole in one sentence.

It would depend on the terms.

He'd be a useful squad player but certainly wouldn't buy him outright and give him a 3 year contract.

A season long loan paying half his wages and we may be interested.

Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Sounds fair - wonder about him filling one of the loan spots? ( not sure re position on number of loanees )

Carvalho won’t improve or get experience sitting on the bench, or improve in value. He is 21 not a kid. If we wanted a proven player for that role I don’t think splashing out £13m on a player that wouldn’t be first choice be crazy. And why bring in Tomlin to sit on bench when he wants to play games?

£13m could’ve gone a long way to get 3 or 4 proven championship players, as it is, we have Carvalho and let’s hope he can live up to his promise.

I'd say concentrate on rb and dm. We have plenty of cover for that am role.
Although I was impressed with tomlin, did that just highlight how poor our creativity was in our team. Good on his day whichever day that is......

I think once the club have secured a RB and a DM (hopefully this week), I think before anybody else comes in, there would need to be 4/5 out of Ward, Clough, Vellios, Traore, Mance, Hendo gone.

If Tomlin were to happen or any others I think they will be in last couple of weeks of window

Really hoping the Byram deal gets over the line this week, west ham certainly expect him to be gone this week so fingers crossed. I've been really impressed with yates in preseason
