How do you predict a score against a team that can beat Leeds then lose to Charlton.
Fingers crossed .. Albion 2 - 1 Forest

3-1 Albion

2-3 Forest

Baggies 3 - Tricky Trees 1

Albion 5 v 1 Forest

Tricky one this (in truth they all are). I will go with my heart rather than my head: 2-1 to Albion

Albion 3 Forrest 0 1st clean sheet at home COYB

Hoping for a win of course but if we do draw that will make 7 points from 3 games this week - which is not a bad return.
9 would be fantastic

I'm being a tad conservative with predicting us to score a couple, but I feel we could easily knock 3 or 4 past this overrated bunch (possible egg on face) So;

SATURDAY - KICK OFF 12.30pm

WBA 2 NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1

Re: Who would you like to go up with us?

For Me, I don't really mind other than I'd like to see Leeds fail... again

I would like Forest and Brentford

I have to pick the ones who are mostly likely to do a Norwich, so it would have to be Preston then Bristol

Whichever 2 teams are the likeliest to get relegated. I'd say Preston and Bristol City. I Think it will be us, Brentford and Fulham though.

When did we get promoted then?
Still one-third of the season to go, we're not there yet!

Exactly
Take nothing for granted, I well remember when the team from the custard bowl were 11 points in front of us with 10 games to go

Don't we have to be promoted first, I been a Baggies supporter for a very long time, you should never take us for granted as we always disappoint and surprise

I just hope we go up , which isn’t any guarantee. People assuming that we have been promoted need to remember it’s the championship anything could happen .
Don’t care who else goes up as long as we do

If Baggies keep playing like the last two games we will need binoculars to see them.

On paper we have a difficult run in, but we tend to play well against the better teams as they don't try and stop us playing as much as the teams lower down, but I feel our new signings have given us the lift we required I think 85 points will see us promoted.

The difference between us and nearly every other team is we score goals from nearly every position other teams rely on 2 or 3 players to get their goals everyone wants us to win playing great football but right now I will settle for victories anyway we can get them.

We do have 8 out of 14 at home (win em and were up imo) which would usually be massive but as we have garnered 35 points away (best in League) and 27 at home (9th best) it ain't necessarily so.

A win tomorrow would put us nine points clear before anyone else kicks off. It would be a massive psychological boost, but we are Albion and we never make it easy so i expect us to draw at best.

Thanks Joe for that. Always an interesting read.

Dream on that WBA fan. Ex-Premiership nobodies. No great shakes. They have parachute money. They even needed the ref' to help them today.

Money isn't everything (but it helps.)

Pre Match & Match Comments....

The match today looks like a repeat of the Millwall game with regards to the weather. Kick off will be more or less coincide with Dennis blowing in, will it favour us again?

Match Kicks off...

The only surprise so far is that we aint scored.

Get in 1-0 Albion, Robinson

That was a class finish after great play by Pereira.
Quality football.

Bartley ffs 1-1

Bartley had no choice but to go for it, Grabban would have scored anyway. We absolutely hammered them for the first 20 mins, and are way up on most stats. We need the same intensity as the first half but not leave ourselves too short at the back. Some really good performances out there.

No point going for it if you are going to slot it in your own goal. The Forest fella may have missed!

It was an open goal Chris. We wouldn't have been happy with Bartley if he didnt. Catch 22

Controlling the game again, we need to score.

Yes!...own goal similar to Bartley, Kanu was there he had to go for it.

The forest manager is clearly upset with the ref but nothing less than 3 points for us would be fair today. We have pummelled Forest.

Forest are cr***ing themselves!

Terrific performance. Forest VERY lucky to get a point but we still have the intensity to get promoted.

Another serious shooting in our own foot.
It’s all well and good hoping for promotion but this side is a catastrophe in the making if we do go up.
We pummel bang average sides and still ship goals.
I just can’t understand why Pro players can’t “manage” games in the last few minutes.
This one could really hurt by 5pm tonight.
Just think boys...,..,you just had to DO YOUR JOBS for 120 more seconds.
I could f king weep!

We played well Mick. Forest didn't deserve anything. Didn't you predict a Forest win? The performance is still there, I don't think Bilic will be upset with what he saw today. I'm disappointed in the result but that's all.

Good job we dont have VAR we would be F**k*D most weeks .

Got to agree with that boingy, but some coaching required to show our keeper how to control the 6 yard box, the ball should have been his I think.

If Forest are one of the chasing pack then it should be one less to worry about. We were 'streets ahead' of them in all departments. If today's performance was anything to go by I can't see them gaining promotion. Yes, we should have won comfortably today but that's football, you don't always get what you deserve!

WBA Match Report...

Albion suffered late disappointment as Nottingham Forest twice came from behind to draw 2-2 in a heated Sky Bet Championship battle at The Hawthorns.
Callum Robinson’s first strike in blue-and-white stripes preceded own goals for either side before Matty Cash claimed the visitors a point.

Bilić kept with the same starting XI that served him so well at Millwall and Reading earlier in the week, with his opposite number Sabri Lamouchi opting to make six changes following Forest’s home defeat by Charlton on Tuesday.

The hosts could and should have taken an early lead in blustery conditions at The Hawthorns. Yuri Ribeiro ran into space down the left before finding Lewis Grabban unmarked in the centre - but Forest’s leading scorer inexplicably headed wide from six yards.

Callum Robinson almost had his first Albion goal on 13 minutes. The on-loan winger fluffed his lines from Jake Livermore’s low cross and saw his right-foot effort drag wide of the left upright.

What began as fascinating turned feisty midway through the first half with both sides exchanging heavy challenges as referee Keith Stroud did his best to keep an already-simmering pot of tension off the boil.

Albion continued to dominate possession but the well-organised visitors limited the Baggies to set-pieces.

First Dara O’Shea saw a goal-bound header blocked on the line before Kyle Bartley nodded over from Krovinović’s outswinging corner.

But, just as the atmosphere inside The Hawthorns reached fever-pitch, Albion had their chance eight minutes before the interval.

Pereira pounced on a lack of concentration to dispossess Samba Sow and play in Robinson who provided a decisive 15-yard strike to beat Brice Samba and net his first Baggies goal.

Tiago Silva fired a 42nd-minute volley just over but Forest were level on the stroke of half-time.

Albion failed to stop a Sammy Ameobi cross making it’s way in from the left and Kyle Bartley, who knew Grabban was lurking behind him, saw his forced attempt to clear find the net from close range.

Bilić’s men began the second half brightly when Krovinović forced a good save from Samba with a well-struck 25-yard effort just 60 seconds after the restart.

Albion went close once more on the hour-mark with Pereira’s volley, from a clever Krovinović corner, blocked by Ameobi in the six-yard box.

Livermore tested Samba with a fierce volley on 63 but the Baggies could not make their dominance pay - or could they?

The never-say-die skipper was again the instigator two minutes later. Tobias Figueiredo did his best to clear from Livermore’s low cross but the second own-goal of the game put Albion in front.

The Baggies were not done yet and were it not for the excellence of Samba between the sticks, Albion might have made it more.

Sawyers’ 86th-minute effort proved too hot to handle for the Congolese stopper who also made a breathtaking save to keep out Robinson moments later.

But the game was far from over. Matty Cash fired home a fierce right-foot shot to level the scores in stoppage time.

Not content with a point it was the Baggies who pushed for a winner. And they thought they’d got it when Robinson volleyed in from close range following a goalmouth scramble - but Bartley was deemed to be in an offside position when the ball crossed the line.

And so it was that the two sides were forced to share the spoils.

ALBION: Johnstone, O’Shea, Ajayi, Bartley, Townsend; Livermore, Sawyers; Pereira (Phillips 72), Krovinović (Harper 90), Robinson; Robson-Kanu (Grosicki 84).

Subs: Bond; Furlong, Austin, Hegazi.

Further Pre Match & Match Comments.....

Weather forecast is very wet and windy again for this one. Should favour us as we've clearly proved we love these conditions

Would like to see Robinson lead the line and put Grosiki on the left.
Maybe bring HRK or Austin on with 20 to go. Krov and Matheus running the midfield behind Robinson (who will score 2 this weekend he is due)

Would be a massive win but would take a draw, that way, if Fulham and Leeds both win, they will still be a win and a bit behind.
If we can bring our recent away form back to the Hawthorns though, I think we'll beat them.

i'm feeling good about this one, the lads will know this is a game to set us aside from the rest, we have the ability to tonk them and I think we will !!  WBA 4 - Forest 1, oh and Grabban sent off to top it all off nicely

I dunno, I can never forget us scoring first then losing 5-1 at home to Forest in about 1976 (edit: just looked it up it was 1979), so I would probably take a draw - I think it could be a high scoring game though, best of 5 or 6 goals.

It seems a long time since we beat forest at home, we seen better at theirs. Due a win but you know Albion

I think it’ll be 1-1 or 2-2 and I’d take that.

There two main strikers are injured, think we will win 2-0

Here we go. COYB

Great start, defending from the front again. Lets make ot count.

Grabban missed a sitter

Grabban had Bartley on toast there, dreadful defending and a terrible miss.
Let off.

Free header in the box again. Every. Single. Game.

Bad challenge from Livermore who berates the Forest player for his reaction. They'd be having a look at that with VAR. No action in the Championship.

Passing it around the defence without the midfield really showing for it at times. At the start of the season, Sawyers was on the toes of the defenders and starting those moves. Seems to have stopped doing that as much now.

That'll be a 3 match ban for Livermore

Kanu out of the game so far. Nothing sticking. They won't look at the tackle retrospectively as it's not violent conduct.
Going to be plenty of added time!

Livermore have some backup on that, not even a yellow card. What the hell?! What was he thinkning?

Our pressing from the front is starting to ease off. Should be pressuring them more. Also frustrating to see how easy Forest are getting through when they run - our central midfield don't do enough in that sense.

Cash gets a yellow. Terrible tackle on Pereira.

Soft yellow card, they are booting Pereira at every opportunity though.

I can't stand whrn Goodman commentates on us. He really does have it in for us. "The squeal from Pereira".

Not going to finish 11 v11  is it

I used to love Goodman as a player for us but he does talk some ***** against us....strange!!!

Great corner that time. Could have been 1-0.

Cynical Forest , we must score first to bring them out

Goodman making the case for O'Shea being booked. Odd given that was a 50/50.

1-0 !!!!

Aaaaannnnddd we're off. Pereira is a God, Robinson is possibly pur best January signing of the last 5 years

How do Forest react now? They like the counter attack but have to come out now.

Sow finally booked. Should change his approach.

Let off. No one picking up midfield runners.

That interception on Sow by Pereira was so satisfying after all his earlier dirty antics. Seems to be having a meltdown now.

1-1 own goal by Bartley

What a terrible time to concede a goal. Especially one like that.

Loving the own goals isn't he. We just can't handle balls into our box from wide positions.
Been all over them today but we can't keep clean sheets. Will be an issue next season if we do go up.

HT 1-1

Our defensive record at home is pretty grim. Only one clean sheet all season, so no surprise we’ve conceded again. Luton apart, we always do.

We've controlled the game to an extent but despite being 2nd best Forest have had all the best chances.
Great goal by us but there is something fundamentally wrong with the middle of this team.
Sawyers needs dropping, Can't fault Bartley with that too much

Continued....

Can't blame Bartley for goal. He had to go for it or Grabban would have had a tap in.

Bartley a bit unlucky there , too many crosses getting in from that side . In that area where if he doesn't swipe Grabbens behind him for a tap in . Its coming down that side so maybe O'Shea needs a bit of help , overall playing fairly well against a cynical Forest side

Pereira is getting kicked from pilar to post, what the **** is ref doing.

Sawyers makes some weird choices at times, had a clear opening for a shot and went for a  sideways pass also had plenty of time to put a cross in and played a 20 yard back pass. Very scrappy game but really concerned how easy they are getting down our right side and always outnumber us with players just on the edge of our 18 yard box.

We have been the better side and we have the bench to hurt them as the game goes on but Forest are great on the counter and could hurt us. Finely balanced, I wouldn't be uoset by a point, even if it does extend our poor home form.

Just seen the Livermore replay - stone wall red card. Very lucky boy

Lucky it's all square with Grabbon missing a sitter when Bartley was nowhere near him early on.

ball across the goal 3 yards out Bartley knows keeper not taking it like he should so had no option but to get something on it. Same old story a half competent keeper takes that every time - we ain't got though so concede again and again, and need to score at least 2 to get anything. A decent experienced keeper and this defence improves 100%. We can still win this but need some protection from their persistent fouling of our flair players. Skye commentary very pro forest which is annoying me  frustrated as I am not to actually be there COYB

On a knife edge. Can see it being 2-1 either way.

Not to mention Don Goodman on Sky. Appallingly biased.

Ref seems to be protecting us a bit more this half.

Getting a lot of the 50 50 decisions go our way.

Sow is impressing me today. Unsure if he could step up to prem but he seems to stand midfielders up well.

We need to dig in now. Forest are looking increasingly dangerous and yet we are not making much progress going forward.

Brilliant Pereira volley cleared off the line.

Samba looks a decent keeper

Great volley by Livermore from a poor punch by their keeper.

2-1 !

I thought it was a foul on Ameobi. We have had the ref on our side today. Goodman p***** off. Love it.

That was a penalty. Townsend rinsed.

It’s just as well there is no VAR as the goal would have been ruled out

Ref has once again let us get away with one. I'd be annoyed as a Forest fan. Refs in this division are poor.

Goodman has gone into meltdown

He is a complete tw@t. How biased is he !!

I'm not totally convinced it was a foul, Ameobi stuck his leg as he turned in front of Livermore and they got tangled.

Sow off? Odd.

He absolutely clattered him after Ameobi totally roasted him with a superb bit of skill.

"Unless this is a head injury the game shouldn't have stopped". Shut the f*** up Goodman, you tool.

We need a couple of subs to close this out, fresh legs needed

Bartley very fortunate not to concede a penalty with a clear hands ball. We are getting the breaks today

Arm not down by his side, prevents Lolley going past him.

If VAR was in this game we would be 2-1 down.
And down to 10 men.

The next time we moan about a referee - and we certainly will - we shouldn’t forget the days when we’ve had the rub of the green.

Samba is a great keeper. Really rate him on this showing.

5 added minutes

2-2

One shot on target. Johnstone concedes.
We just stand off way too much.
Great finish but doesn't take much to score against us.

This Forest team is gash in all honesty and I wouldn’t be worried about them challenging us. 2-2 is unfair but their Goalkeeper has kept them in it

Great first touch and shot, turned Livermore on the edge of the box. Keeper got no chance

We could rue this goal but in fairness Forest probably deserve a point

Fair play to Forest. They’ve had pretty much everything go against them.
Disappointing thing

Bartley clears our shot off the line while sat offside.
Awful end to the game.

Goal. Robbed

Bartley wasn't offside but no goal anyway

He's actually onside and touches the ball over the line anyway

Bartley is offside. Ball was over the line.

While Bartley is definitely in an offside position... it may have crossed the goal line before he interfered with play anyway
In reality, an assistant will ALWAYS give that as offside

After Match Comments....

We will go up. But we will set records for most goals conceded and fewest clean sheets next season without signings

In fairness, Johnstone was beaten by a very good shot but he should have been brave and done more with their first goal

A point will do. We had the benefit of some dodgy decisions and their keeper had a blinder to be fair to him.

Bartley was offside at the end, you need to have 2 players playing you inside.  Usually one of them is the keeper. Ball didn't go over anyway.

Robbed at the end. Perfectly good goal

Keeps the unbeaten run going, just got to keep building on it

Can't really have too many complaints. Our 2nd goal should not have stood. Livermore should probably have been sent off  too. But we've only got ourselves to blame when we get such rub of the green. Only Sam Johnstone could concede 2 goals without making a save in 100 minutes of football.
Bartley continues to be a liability at both ends.

We cannot defend. We're head and shoulders above Forest and completely dominated most of the game. Krovinovic MOTM he was superb. Sadly we've chucked 2 points away because we don't stop crosses coming in and close nothing down when teams get into dangerous areas.

Ball was way over the line

Think a few need to learn the offside rule.

I feel like we lost the game, what was that in the end? Was it really offside?

God that was frustrating.  OK, so he wants to keep attacking and we could have got 3 or 4, but what a sucker punch.

Can't see their goal coming, we were in control before the equalizer.
But overall we played well, considering it's the third game for an unchanged starting XI in a week.

Can't understand how that goal wasn't given but the officials were shocking all game.
We were easily the better team, they scored 2 from one attempt on target, which really says it all

It was offside so it didn't count.

I thought the ref helped us today, watched it on TV and I can't believe Don Goodman is allowed to commentate our games though, absolutely biased Wolves idiot.

I'd have taken 7 points from the previous three. Disappointing given the circumstances but if Forest are the best of the rest we have nothing to worry about. Absolute flogs.

Hard match that but happy with the way we played. Bartley had a stinker and we rode our luck a lot today. Ameobi was fouled in build up to our goal, Bartley handball should have been a pen to Forest and Livermore should have got a red for his foul in the first half.

Thought Robinson was outstanding and Grosicki again looked really good. Really want to see Robinson start in the middle with Grosicki wide.

Disappointing not to see the game out but we had a few breaks from the ref. It was more important not to lose today than win. Difficult game. Forest organised and were trying to spoil it and hit us on the counter. Not good conditions. Generally we played well and caused them a lot of problems. Good team effort. Robinson played very well BUT should have passed it to HRK to make it 3-1 instead of taking the shot on himself. I thought Johnstone could have potentially cut out the cross for their first goal, nothing he could do about the equaliser. It was a shame we dropped off and let them get the ball down in the box, always dangerous. Credit to them, it was a good play and a strong hit but Townsend should have been a bit tighter on him - think we were terrified of giving away a penalty so stood of them and got done. Controversial at the end, mad scramble, ball definitely crossed the line and Bartley was in their net so I'm not sure about that decision

Criminal Forest have taken anything out that game. Their first shot on target in the 90th minute and they take a point.

I thought Forest were awful - the goal comes from their first shot in the game

Don't see Forest threatening the top two on that showing.

While we're at it Livermore should have been sent off. Our 2nd goal should have been ruled out for a foul and Forest should have had a penalty for clear handball against Bartley.

Agree with all that. They're supposedly one of the best teams in the league, especially away from home, and we played them off the park with a tired team.

We need to tighten up at the back and be more clinical but I'm confident regardless of the result we'll get promoted now.  GIbbs will come back soon, Robinson has that goal and we still have Diangana to come back.

Forest decent at what they do, disciplined, good shape with some threat on the break.  We know where the weaknesses are in our team and why we concede.  SJ doesn't command, KB has an error a game in him, Sawyers links play well but poor at closing down and HRK's hold up is good but no threat.   We genuinely go out to score at least one more than you and I'm happy with that.   How these players will do in the PL is irrelevant cause we ay there yet.

Dissapointing to concede so late but it was a  fantastic strike, and in a strange way not an unfair result.  Our lead is intact and we stopped a rival gaining on us.

I'm actually OK with that result bearing in mind the luck we had with poor refereeing decisions.

I'm OK with it because of the sheer amount of chances we created to win it....but for great saves from their keeper and greedy decisions by us. My point is that its great to see us creating chances, on another day Robinson could have had a hat trick. Onwards and upwards!

Clear penalty.
Bartley’s arm prevents Lolley from getting on the end of the ball
Had it not been for his arm, he gets a shot at goal and likely scores

don't see where forest had bad decisions go against them that much.Seemed to me about 50/50, thought they were very lucky to still have 11 on the pitch after their cynical start. Must be ok to try to injure opponents in the first 20 mins.  Consistently trying to break up play by fouling for the rest of the game they were given 1 point more than they deserved. We have not got away with anything yet, Livermore's 'defensive stud display' will, if Skye and mr don godawfulman have anything to do with it, result in yet another retrospective trial by tv red card for one of our players. Forest did seem particularly adept at tangling other players legs and getting free kicks for it though, and by the oldest trick in the book of stepping back into a covering player and diving forward as if fouled. This it seems meets the approval of mr godawfulman.

Still need a goalkeeper who understands and reads the game, and bosses the 6 yard box with a centre half who can work with him to do the same. I do not believe this is SJ and KB, still as others have said if forest are the best of the rest there is not too much to concern us. Promotion is entirely in our own hands, onwards and upwards COYB

I said in the pre match thread it’d be 1-1 or 2-2. Didn’t count on their second coming so late though.

We were lucky to get a point. Our first goal shouldn’t have been given because of an earlier foul. Our second was an own goal. Anyone suggesting we didn’t get the rub of the green from the ref is living in fantasy land.

Disappointing to concede late on to their only shot on target. We are a much better side than Forest, and you could tell that from the Forest manager and players' reactions.
We had enough chances to have won that comfortably. Robinson is a good new attacking outlet that get several decent shots away every game.

Can't be overly down as we were so superior to Forest. Krovinovic and Robinson were particularly good. Keep up that level of performance and we'll cruise to promotion.

The ref was awful and deserves the heaps of criticism he's getting but surely the assistants with 3 of these big decisions were actually responsible.

The offside, the tackle by Livermore and the handball were all the lino's job to spot.

The ref was quite cowardly, he just didn't give stuff that could have been given - worked to our advantage with the Bartley handball and the Ameobi tackle before our 2nd, both of which were "I've seen them given" things, but he also could/should have got the cards out much earlier for Forest, would've cleaned the game up to our advantage.

Some sensible comments from the baggy fans with most admitting the ref was a "homer" or incompetent.
Reply
But saying we had no shots...we created the best two chances of the first half and their goal came from sow being poor and their food pressing.
Most of their shots second half were long shots and scrambles not nearly crafted chances. Samba did well but nothing you wouldn’t expect him not to save - no worldies! Unlike cash!
