Retro Forest Photos

Been trying to figure out where the photo above was taken but I can't put my finger on it.

I think it's 1980 as the photo features Frank Gray and Gary Mills.

The only ones I recognise are Grummitt and Bob McKinlay,  maybe Colin Addison second from left front row, but maybe not.

Definitely Peter Grummitt - three from left on the front row

Bob McKinley - second from right on back row

I think it is Jack Burkitt - two from left on the front row

I think it is Flip Le Flem - extreme right front row

I think it is Johnny Quigley - two from right front row

I would be inclined to agree with Jim Iley - extreme right back row

I think it is Calvin Palmer stood in between Grummitt and McKinley

I think it is Len Juliens sat in between Quigley and Burkitt

I think it is Billy Cobb sat extreme left front row.

No idea on the other two

We had someone in the squad that season who went on to win a European Cup medal; can anyone name him?




was it Tony Barton, manager of villa when they won the European cup.

At Northgate, we had one of those footballs with the laces holding it together for matches against the likes of Stanley Rd, Scotholme, Heathfield, Old Basford etc. It was ok when dry, but once it was wet, it was like kicking a cannonball around

when i was 7, i got sent off 3 weeks on the trot, 1 week was for doing the morecombe and wise thing, the dance thing where they put the hands behing their heads and flick the heels up when going to form a line to get picked, another time for not heading the very heavy ball that the pe teacher kept sending over to me from great distances and lots of altitude, can't remember what the other was

Miah Dennehy, Barry Lyons (?), Jimmy McIntosh, George Lyall, ? ?, Duncan McKenzie, John Robertson, Sammy Chapman.

Nice photo from the time when I first started watching Forest. All the players smiling except for MON.

Miah Dennehy is sadly no longer with us (RIP). Nice to see Duncan Mckenzie right next to Robbo, what a pair they could have become if Mckenzie wasn't sold to Leeds.

I recognise a few. Colin Foster, Paul Wilkinson and Neil Webb. Stuart Pearce and Mark Croosley. Looks like Brian Rice, Steve Sutton, Franz Carr and Des Walker. Phil Starbuck and Terry Wison. I think it's Lee Glover and Gary Charles and of course Archie Gemmill and Liam O'Kane.
