I saw mentioned earlier on another thread Steven Gerrards name being mentioned. I can't see that happening anytime soon. Apparently, Bristol City approached him to replace Lee Johnson and he turned them down insisting he wanted to stay on at Rangers Dyche, should he decide to walk away from Burnley would be wanted by a number of PL sides, so I am sure he wouldn't want to come back to us. Hughton, I would take happily. He knows the league and knows how to get out of it

I don't think they'll be British unless Dyche and Woan leave Burnley and Woan works really hard to convince Dyche (I've heard Woan wants to work at Forest before he retires) Pearson is an interesting one but I can't see him taking it, he'll wait for the next relegation threatened Prem side, he'll have just earnt a shedload of compo anyway.
I think Ivo Vieira will be revisited and probably Marco Silva too. I also remember reading (possibly on here) that we approached a young German manager before hiring MON but he didn't want to move his family at the time, perhaps he'll be sounded out again too?

Ivo Vieira is a very good shout Psycho if indeed Sabri has gone. Also Marco Silva like you said.
I will chuck a couple of more names into the mix. Javi Gracia the former Watford manager, Rui Vitoria and Jardim.

I thought of Gracia too but I think he's favourite for the Valencia job. Jardim is an interesting one, didn't realise Monaco had sacked him again. Quique Sanchez Flores is also still out of work. As is Valverde if Marinakis wanted to go for an all out Bielsa style appointment.

Would take Ernesto Valverde just for his record alone but doubt he would get to grips with the crazy championship in one season or get his style imprinted into the team.

Carlos carvalhal? He was pretty close to getting it when we appointed MON and has done well in Portugal since.
Plays attacking football and has good championship experience. Probably too logical an appointment. Will be very disappointed if we sack Sabri and bring in someone else with no championship experience. Every manager that has done well in this league has had at least half a year to acclimatise. |
