This all sounds pretty ominous to me. You would think in the current climate there would be a willingness to get big projects on just to create jobs so hopefully that helps it progress

When we visited the City Ground to look at the plans for the new stand etc. we were told that the building of the stand was dependent on the apartment blocks being built. i.e no apartments, no stand.

It may be no appartments, no 8k capacity, 3 tiered stand but they could build a replacement modern equivalent for the current main stand for half the price, or less probably.

Theres no point going half measures though as current stand holds 4k. With modern regs, a 4k replacement would be bigger and cost a fortune to build (and demolish old stand). I think PT stand is still the most expensive tickets in the ground (non corporate). So might as well do it properly even its delayed.

This is another area the current owners need to be careful about. They have got us all excited, but it appears to have stalled, largely over the flats.
Now I understand that the flats will generate a lot of money, and make the area more lively throughout the week, however they can not let the whole project fizzle out if they don't get approval for their 1st choice option.

During this pandemic with no fans present it's almost criminal that the stand rebuild isn't going ahead.

No. There is an objection against the apartments and then the covid 19 virus got in the way.

I was just reading about the new planning laws that got introduced today. Sounds like they might help our project, can't say I'm an expert in this field though so may be wrong!

It would appear on the face of it that the surrounding areas of the WFCG are classed as brownfield areas and as I understand it could well get fast tracked for planning under the new rules once in place later this year.
