On the basis who we have brought in this summer and the names we are being linked with are Either free/cheap European players (hopefully) in their prime but likely not to have much resale value.

Colback 31 in October and Free, no resale value
Lyle Taylor 30. If he does well sure will have resale but depends how he does and how long he stays (Really want him to do well)

Blackett exception as 26 but thought he was older as he was destined for the MLS and we swooped on to get him on a free. Will he have re sale value, well he didn’t for Reading.

And now Bachirou who is also 30, not played in England but played a lot of Greenock Morton. Played in Europe, just not sure what we need.

Not necessarily the lack of resale that is the problem if we arent paying a fee, it is more the overall age of the squad. I worry about lack of pace too which was an issue last year and still to be addressed.

Its like the penny finally dropped we werent going to do it with Portuguese 19 Yr olds so everyone we sign now has to have bags of experience and be the wrong side of 30.

Domestic (Champ) experience and enough quality for a promotion side with resale value is going to cost. We got the experience and hopefully quality without paying a fee so little or no resale value is ok.

I’d be disappointed if we’d paid substantial fees for players with no resale value though.

Have to view the window as a whole and then look at the make-up of the squad, it’s promising so far, it’s all we can say early on in the window.

I would love an exciting up and coming player though, like Watkins was or maybe Toney. That’s where I want to see a fee paid out for. The next Collymore!

There’s no substitute for experience as they say. Look at Grabban for instance. He’s become a master of the art of being a forward. Five years ago not so much.

Experienced players are less likely to crumble to dust like the team did towards the end of last season.

I know but that wasn't my point. What if the academy goes a few years without producing a player worth millions?
