How Good Are We?

Now we're playing decent football, what's everyone's thoughts now on how good we are?

I reckon we have top championship players: Grabban, Worral, McKenna, Colback, even Yates now (!) And of course Brennan is now looking complete quality. Lolley and Garner cant get in the side and we've yet to see the Ojeda or Ely.

I think we're a top 6 side if we retain Wozza and Brennan in Jaunary. 6 points behind 6th now with still loads of games to be played. I reckon playoffs is definately an achievable goal.

We are now competitive and playing as a team now the shackles have been removed. Not a top six side yet but are making progress.

I would say Samba is a top six player.

I’d also say the same for Spence if he can remain consistent.

There’s been a small minority on here maintaining that the squad is better than it was achieving.

This squad can easily push for the top six albeit I think the final six this season will be a lot better than those that occupied the same places last season.

That said, an injury to Grabban or Figs and it would be a struggle.

We’re bound to lose at some point and getting beat by Fulham wouldn’t be the end of the world or dictate what this team can / can’t achieve.

If we do lose it'll be interesting to see if our new found confidence is deep routed, and if our recent results is a classic new manager bounce.

I can't see us winning less than 3 of the next 3

The top 3 will be hard to catch (Bournmouth, West Brom, Fulham), rest of the league we can match. Still a long way to go this season. If we get a bit of luck with injures and get the necessary backup in Jan then the dream is alive.

I look at the league table and see the top two and I say to myself that we are not as good as them but then I look at the rest of the teams below the top two and I don't see anything at all that we should be afraid of, absolutely nothing.

We are 6 points off 6th place and 7 off 5th so it's definitely all to play for. We are currently averaging 2,6 points per game (5 last games). We will of course not be able to keep that up but then again I can't see us collapsing either.

Best case for me would be 2 points per game which will bring us to 82 points for the season and possibly 3rd or 4th place. Worst case would be 1,5 points per game which will leave us on 65 points and just outside of the play offs. 1,75 would bring us into the play offs. It will be difficult but most definitely doable on current showing.

The next run of games will tell us exactly how good we are and how far we can go. Get a credible amount of points out of them then we really can believe. I'm excited going in to those games and expecting a good display.

That is a good feeling from where we were do I'll take that for now and assess in 5 games time.

Bristol A (Tues)
Fulham H (Sun)
QPR A (Friday)
Sheff U H (Tues)
Preston H (Sat)
then International break.

Yep, looks like a real test of quality & stamina for our squad.
