Our Best Starting 11

With the squad starting to shape up, thought it was time to speculate on our team for next year.

So:

Henderson
Worrall
McKenna
Niakhate
Williams
Richards
Yates
O'Brian
MGW
Johnson
Awoniyi

Obviously work to do to get to that but it looks pretty healthy to me

That is a very young side and I do think that is both a strength and a possible weakness. They will play with no fear but feel we need a Cook like figure in the centre mid. O'brian (if he comes)and Yates? We have no idea how they will handle the premier league and could benefit from having someone who has been there and done it alongside one of them.

But don't ask me who

Far too early for me to comment on this thread. We are going to do a lot more business yet.

So one week to go, we'll likely see close to our starting 11 for the Newcastle game on Saturday (minus Yates maybe? Plus any new signings)

Henderson
Niakhate Worrall McKenna
Toffolo Williams
Yates O'Brien
Lingard
Johnson Awoniyi

This looks like our best team right now, does Mangala come in for Yates or O'Brien if he signs in time?

Cooper said Lingard isn't ready to play yet but will get minutes on Saturday, god knows who we play CAM.

Ah ha that's not ideal. Mangala? Assuming he signs in time, or Surridge (if fit)

Regardless of who we sign at this stage  I expect both Cook and Colback to start at Newcastle. Premiership experience aplenty, Jacks old club, so a point to prove and  the defence always looks more solid and calm when Cook is in it.

I could be wrong,  but I'm very confident in Colback in particular starting.

I will disagree with you there Zico. I don't think Cook will start personally.

The new guy has looked impressive, just think Cook is the most natural at middle if 3, plus even when he doesn't appear to do alot out of the ordinary himself, the defence generally looks more secure when he's on the pitch as he reads the game well. Great problem to have though.

Colback I'm very confident will start though.Looks sharp, fit and combative. And new midfield signings will need time to get up to speed.

So Cook ahead of Niakhate then?
