I've noticed since we've been promoted that we appear to have had a lot of disproportionately negative coverage in the media. Things that we as a club have done or are doing seem, for some reason, to be treated as scandalous or amazing or outrageous when they'd be just shrugged off for most other clubs.
The whole brouhaha around us signing Jesse Lingard was the first instance, then the number of players we signed in the summer transfer window, now the fact that we chose to fly the team to the Blackpool match. On the last one, yeah it's not a great look that we did that but it's hardly like we're the only ones. Other teams fly to matches all the time and nobody in the press bats an eyelid, but when little-old Forest do it it suddenly becomes headline news.
Our return to the Premier League really does seem to have rattled a lot of cages.

I take it as a compliment. The 'establishment' probably realise we could do quite well with our fanbase and brand etc so feel a bit threatened.

I took it as other clubs were threatened by another team ruffling feathers and actually going for it. Although it's weird that the general sports media took that approach too, it seemed like the non top 6 fans seemed to enjoy seeing a different team trying to break through. Perhaps it just shows the sports media in general is heavily biased towards the elite clubs, not a huge surprise.
The Jesse one was a surprise he chose to sign for Forest (although perhaps a sign he was aware he was going to struggle elsewhere like he has done here), as its turned out it was probably a sensible move on his part knowing his own level. I'm not sure why it was considered an outrage (apart from by West Ham fans!).

I know. Its bloody annoying when pretty much all media keeps mentioning we spent £150 - £160 million on 23 new players when other teams spend anything from £170 Million to £270 million namely Chelsea, Man Utd, W Ham and Spurs on alot fewer players and say nothing about it. They seem to forget we needed to buy a complete new team as most our players were on loan or generally not good enough to play in the Premier league, But no, only Forest are the team who's going to balls it up. The media just needs to get over the fact that our big man delivered what he promised and put his hands in his pocket and spent money.

Imagine if we do manage to sign that Danilo that was linked with Arsenal, will be outrage! Or will automatically mean we've overpaid/he's not up to it.

It makes you wonder why someone like Dan Taylor doesn't come out and speak up in our defence.
It would be nice if he addressed this situation.
Instead like many of the media he only wants to talk about negative things when there are so many good and positive things going on at the club.

Sorry to go off topic Sniff but thats how the media are wired up. Bad news sells. Go on the headlines of any news outlet in the world and you wont see any good news, we are all doomed.
Actually if you care to look beneath there are many many good things happening that never gets reported. Its the same with Forest.

For me it's not a matter of defence, it's consistency.
I'd love to know what the media reaction would've been if Fulham or Bournemouth had signed Lingard, or signed 23 players, or flown to a match.
I'm not sure why these things are somehow more unsavoury just because we did them.

Well should we sign him and a 21 year old doesn’t immediately tear up the Premier League at least our fans will cut him some slack and show some patience.

The MGW one was so frustrating, Sky went with the 45m number and just kept using that figure when in reality it's clearly half that. They acknowledge it on other deals too so its pretty annoying.
