For me this is the biggest and most important game of our season so far.

Could of finished this weekend 7 points clear.. could be 1 point clear next weekend, biggest game to date. Dyche coming to watch us for weeks on end is a chew as well.. gives him more of a advantage watching us first hand than others

Need to shake things up a bit, get Scarpa back in the side I don't know what he's done wrong.

Can understand playing Colback, Freuler and Shelvey against Man City but not against West Ham and certainly not against Everton at home.

It's not like he did loads right either, lets now pretend he was dominating games. 

Hopefully Yatesy is back and the midfield picks itself. I think Cooper does need to make a decision on Wood, either play him as a CF and change formation or play 433 and start Dennis instead. Weird saying it but he looked lively against Fulham.

4231 might be the answer if no Yatesy. Tough call either way.

Scarpa was just finding his feet and he was as good as anybody else when he played. We then Signed Shelvey and since then it's all been ultra cautious with Colback, Freuler, Shelvey, Danilio etc. Personally I am fed up with this ultra cautious mentality. Hope Steve grows a pair and gets some attacking flair on the pitch and someone who can pass a ball in dangerous areas and not just across midfield in our own half of the pitch.

Like I said on another thread I can understand it against Man City etc but not against West Ham and certainly not against Everton at home. I don't blame in on injuries either, that is an easy excuse.

Scarpa has 0 goals or assists and hasn't particularly created a lot so far. His stats don't exactly scream play me although I agree the others haven't done loads either.

Literally one game with Colback starting, where he made the attacking sub and it cost us the game. I wouldn't exactly call that ultra cautious! 

The injuries are massive, why would you want to play that down? We're literally missing 4 maybe 5 players that are guaranteed starters. Two of our best three players this season in Aurier and Yates. Take the best two players out of any team and they will get worse (apart from Man City maybe).

Salah and Van Dijk, Kane, Mitrovic, Saka and Partey, Bowen, Ward Prowse, Maddison, Zaha, Toney. You take these players out of any of these teams and they will/have been noticeably worse. It's bad luck and frustrating but that's the game! I really don't know why you'd want to downplay it though.

Every team suffers with injuries, we have a 25 man squad and everyone can do a job. Like Steve says it's next man up and we get on with it. Taiwo was hardly playing before his injury, Mckenna was often left out when fit, Aurier only got injured last week, we haven't really missed Henderson because of Navas. Personally I won't use our negative approach to games and the trying to stay in games for as long as we can mentality on injuries. It's not injuries it's the way the starting eleven is being ordered to set up and play.

All I am saying is that I hope we don't set up and play with that kind of mentality against Everton.

How about we get on the front foot and we take the game to them?

I think they're separate issues but maybe Steve is letting the injury situation influence his tactics too much.

Tbf I thought we did a good job vs Fulham second half when Shelvey came on of getting on the front foot. Hopefully we can take that approach next weekend. If Dennis was better at shooting we may well have got something there.

Two big home games before the break, let's make them count.

I can understand it against West Ham away and until Shelvey came off we were keeping a clean sheet.

Agree about Everton though - we need to take the game to them at home.

I think the home games against Everton, Wolves and Southampton are key to the season. We are getting so little away from home 9 points from those three plus the odd few draws and we might be OK. We have had to set up fairly defensive to shore things up from the start of the season when we were getting battered. I trust Cooper, he normally judges things right tactically. He tends to open things up more in the second half of games. Neco needs to step up for me, Aurier is much more dominant and we're missing him

We should not let Everton come to our place and dominate the ball like many others have done. SC has to put a footballing side out so we are on the front foot, pass and move its such a simple game, watched Fulham V Wolves the other night and Wolves played exactly this way and totally dominated the 1st half with some terrific football. Why are we unable to do the same? It's getting to shit or bust time to be proactive with some of the top teams coming to town in the next few months, losing is simply not an option and the players selected to play should treat this as a cup final as not many more chances after this to gain the points required to say up!
