True and this has crossed my mind.

I think Cooper should go back to the 3 at the back formation from last season, We need points on the board, and with better players in the 3421 formation it may work better.

For me Cooper has to decide on a system. Playing 3 upfront with wingers coming in from wide positions with a low block creates to many pockets for the other team to exploit. Also we play with full backs so high with the ball, that any over turn results in a 3v2 situation at the back. For me and this is just me i would like us press higher up the pitch and reduce the space between the front 3 and the midfield. Also with the ball i would have the Fullbacks moving into the CDM areas realising the midfield to support the wide forwards, create overloads, movement and passing patterns.
I know it's not that easy to bring in that system but what we are currently doing isn't working.

What i would do
The fullbacks come inside as false fullbacks and position themselves extremely narrower. The objective of this would be attracting the opposition forwards and midfielders inside to open the space in wide areas.

The shape can be described as a 2-3-5 plus the goalkeeper at the back with the false fullbacks. It is double pivots out of possession, but Sanare plays as the single pivot and Danlio steps up into the right pocket. Both wingers keep the width to pin the opposition fullbacks or wingbacks and MGW occupies the left pocket

       
   

As it is illustrated above, thanks to the positions of both fullbacks and wingers, there is open space in each flank, where the attacking midfielders MGW and Danlio drift to receive the ball. The opposition fullbacks are pinned by the wingers, so it is difficult for the ball side fullback to jump and press on the attacking midfielder receiving the ball in the flank. In case when the opposition fullback tries to step up but is late to apply pressure on the ball, the attacking midfielder can play in behind by mainly using the fullback inside as a third man.

I have to admit that  I was full of hope, but he is looking "iffy."  Is that down to him, our mode of play, or the guys in front of him?

I dont think he's done an awful lot wrong but hes hasnt really made a big impact either like Hendo did when he first came. He looks a bang average keeper so far and it may not be entirely his fault but we're now shipping goals.
