Hopefully a pointless question but I was really surprised to see someone saying they'd rather stay up than with the FA Cup. Be interested see if that's the general consensus and also why?!

Because the PL is massive, it is the worlds elite league with the worlds elite players and for us to be a part of that is just magical. Also the financial issue. We have players on big money and long contracts and if we went down and didn't come straight back up then we will have some serious issues that I really don't want to think about. The FA Cup is magical too but it's nothing compared to the PL. Who won it last year? I honestly don't remember.

I cant remember who won it either Sniff. The reason being that its been monopolised by the big 6 clubs and its pretty predictable. So im with you, staying up is everything amd shouldnt be risked for a nice day out at wembley. I remember losing in 91 final. It wasnt a nice day out, it was miserable.

Don't get me wrong I would love us to win the FA Cup but not at the expense of us losing our PL status. I can't even contemplate it.

I'd love to share that experience with my kids whose highlight prior to Steve Cooper arriving was staying up v Ipswich. By winning it, we'd have beaten Mancs, won a 1/4 final and a semi at Wembley beforehand. Those are memories I would love to add and share. Going down would be horrendous- but with good management we could bounce straight back. I might feel differently if I didn't attend every game, being in the limelight of the premier league must be great for fans who can't get to games. I'm actually getting a bit sick of losing nearly all the time and the fruitless (bar 3) away trips in the league. Also, I love the FA Cup, 1988 and 1989 quarter finals at Highbury and Old Trafford right up there as top top days and memories the younger generation can not (yet) understand. The closest since being the most recent play off semis. White hot atmosphere, 12-15 000 Forest supporters in packed away ends. 5th round at Birmingham with 10 000 Forest was great too, if a bit scary. Anyhow, we're going to win the FA Cup so let's not make it a choice, just win the Cup and stay up too.
