Let Us Get Things Back Into Perspective

It's a bit risky starting this thread just before an away game where Forest really has to perform to the best of their capabilities. It's a must. A below average performance will do real damage to the team and the support. But let's have a look at the situation after 13 games.
 
Forest is currently sitting comfortable in 9th place having lost only 2 games all season. There are 4 other teams that only have lost 2 games and nobody has lost only 1. So we are clearly hard to beat. We have managed 19 points in these 13 games which is 2 points off 6th place and 6 off the top 2 teams. Forest has shown that they can be really good if they follow the managers game plan and play with the required tempo and intensity. If the tempo and intensity go missing Forest struggles as you would expect. 
 
Yesterday, most teams played their 14th league game and results went Forest's way. If we win today we could be back among the top 6 if Derby doesn't win and auto place will only be 4 points ahead. The league is that tight and nothing is determined yet. Even though we lost to Norwich and you could get the feeling from social media that the season was already over for Forest.
 
If we just look at the the league results after the first international break where many things seemed to fall into place for team. Suddenly Forest started to play much more as ONE unit and results started coming. This 7 game period leaves Forest in 6th place with 12 points (3-3-1). Forest have the 4th best goal difference so all seems good on that front. If Forest win today they will move up to 5th. That doesn't seem all too bad.
 
To start talking about sacking the manager is just stupid and a bit sad actually. I get it that people get disappointed and frustrated after the Norwich game where I believe we all thought that Forest would push on from the Middlesbrough game but for some reason that didn't happen. That is of course a set back but nothing that we cannot recover from and in that sense the Bolton game is very important. A win would be great but for me the most important thing is that we get a really good performance from the team. Tempo and intensity throughout the game is a must and if they are able to deliver that, I'm sure we will come away with 3 points.

Continuously playing a midfield pair that hasn't worked and a player that's been awful since pre-season when we have many other options is a massive bell ringing and a warning.

Some things are good but he has had a fortune to spend and his attitude is always towards negative formations and players over positive eventually they will be his downfall.

You have to elaborate a bit more than that if at least I'm going to understand what you are referring to:

Watson played good at Middlesbrough which is difficult to argue against. Some would argue that a player should keep the place after a performance like that. He did however have a bad game against Norwich but it was difficult to predict that at least basd on the Middlesbrough game where he played together with Colback. I don't at all understand the comment that Karanka is negative and playing a defensive set up. Far from it, I believe he has at times been too attacking minded and you could argue that it has cost us points. The problem is that if the team is not playing with the required tempo and intensity you tend to get pushed back and I can understand that in those situation it could look like the team is playing too low but I'm 100% certain that it is not intentionally.

Karanka has a management team of 5-6 other coaches and analysts so I would expect that they do see and understand what is happening on the pitch. But it is the players that have to implement the game plan they have agreed on come match day and it is the managers responsibility in the end to make that work. My point with this tread is to try and point out that there is a lot more positive than negatives but that seems to get forgotten at times in all the excitement.

Watson and Colback away from home against a barrage and top of the table I understand at home when we want to be top 6 is inexcusable so daft it certainly isn't.

If he thinks that didn't add to the atmosphere and the bewilderment amongst fans he is mistaken.

I've been to 90% of the matches this year and trust me Watson is on the way out, 2 DMs at home if you don't see that as negative then I am afraid I can't help you.

You need a player with legs to drive out of the midfield, with two players that don't do that all you do is invite pressure, that's as negative as it gets at home, look at the game stats.

Well, you are supposed to have two DMCs when playing the formation that we do. If playing it correctly with the required Tempo and intensity having two DMCs are the only way. If not you will be far too exposed when loosing the ball. It is key to understand what the manager want to achieve (formation and tactics) before criticizing him and/or the players.

I can see this discussion from both sides of the coin.

We do need to play with two DM's with the system we play but they should NOT be Watson and Colback. It needs to be another pairing.

Regarding the manager, I know that when I speak about him I normally do so looking through the eyes of our owner. In other words, it's not so much what I personally think but what our owner is probably thinking.

Geddy should be the 1st name on the team sheet... Even when he has a poor game he can produce a moment of magic and provides a real threat. Most importantly, unlike Watson... he can run!!! Watson and Colback should never ever ever be our middle 2 at home... ever!!!!! I wonder what Jacob has done, he must have been having fun with Mrs Karanka!!
