Tyler Walker

Someone has just posted these stats on Nottingham Post comments thread comparing Britt Assombalonga to Tyler Walker in Leagues 1 and 2.

It's reassuring to note that it took Assombalonga 21 games more to score just 4 more than Tyler has over the past two seasons.

I personally feel that the best bit of business we did last month was to bring Tyler back.

BA (Apps/Goals):
Southend (L2) 2012-13 49/16
P'boro (L1) 2013-14 58/33
Total 107/49

TW (Apps/Goals):
Mansfield (L2) 2018-19 52/26
Lincoln City (L1) 2019-20 34/16
Total 86/42

I’m genuinely surprised that people think the two are anywhere near the same level.

In the Birmingham match Tyler did a diving header that went wide, not sure by how much. Don't think I have ever seen Grabban do a diving header.

Does that make Tyler a better player than Grabban?

Lewis has 138 goals mainly at Championship level.

Nobody knew that Britt would make the grade in the Championship until he had actually been given the chance to prove himself.

Tyler may now be given the same opportunity. It is now up to him to prove himself, and prove his doubters wrong. Something nobody knows what will happen until he has been given the chance.

No the two of them are not at the same level. Tyler is at least two or three years behind Britt in his development, but now needs to prove he can make the step up to the Championship, the same as Britt did

Tyler puts more effort in creating his own chances looking outside the box if neccessarily but britt was more like grabban just pass him the ball around the box

All fair points albeit I think there was a strong belief that Britt would make it at this level.

Britt was also a whole year younger when he signed for us than Tyler is now.

I sincerely hope I’m wrong about Tyler but don’t think I am. I spent most of Ben Brereton‘s time here having the exact same conversation and was in the very small minority.

I find it very strange that we have this much lauded group of individuals in charge of signings and their solution for our third choice striker was to bring Tyler back.

Genuine question but how many times have you seen him since he’s been on loan at Lincoln and Mansfield?

Very little of his game there is about creating his own chances.

You make goalscoring sound very simple “just pass him the ball”, goalscoring is far from simple.

Not sure I agree - particularly re Britt.

My guess is that in 10 years time, Tyler will have had as a good a career as both Britt and Grabban.
