Looks like Hughton played a 4 4 2 Andy Carrol was a youth Yes definitely, he tried 4411 when he first started here. I just don't think we have the CMs to play this tactic right now. Maybe with Garner in though. Johnson and Zinckernagel though, would they suit a 442/4411? One would get to play as the support striker perhaps (unless it's Carv) but otherwise I'm not sure whether they are out and out wingers. You could def play Mighten and Lolley in those roles though. If we get a better CM then I reckon go for it. Surely CH would be better off using the formation he's most comfortable with. From what I read about his time at Brighton it was only when he moved away from 4411 that he began to struggle. RE: Tactics, Formations & Team Selections Etc - Marinakis Red - 16-08-2021 An interesting article on hughton doing the rounds again in regards team selection and tactics at Norwich and Brighton. Lightening is striking for a third time. RE: Tactics, Formations & Team Selections Etc - tugger2018 - 16-08-2021 I would go with the diamond Samba Beck worrall McKenna jordi Yates Zinc mighten Carvho Grabban Taylor RE: Tactics, Formations & Team Selections Etc - Marinakis Red - 16-08-2021 (16-08-2021, 06:23 PM)SSM Wrote: I don't think the formation is much of an issue, it's more about what people's roles are within a system. I hear what you're saying. However, That was less of an issue when 'ball playing cm' Garner was here. Augmented by Krov' to get the ball going forwards quick. Things are better with Mighten, Brennan and the other worldly Zinc Man. Ironic that we have those players but lose Garner, Krov' and deign to start a season without a LB and are still faffing about after a striker with young legs. It's a chain reaction of problems that can only be unlocked with recruitment. The team is currently dysfunctional in at least 3-4 key areas. Any manager has a favoured system. But Hughton has played different formations in the past. It didn't matter when he had better players. SA. RE: Tactics, Formations & Team Selections Etc - GaribaldiRED - 16-08-2021 It's reassuring to see that we have so many experts around (not only on this forum but on all social platforms) who know exactly what the issues are and also how to fix them. Apparently it's only CH and his team of coaches that haven't got a clue. How difficult can it be :D RE: Tactics, Formations & Team Selections Etc - Marinakis Red - 16-08-2021 (16-08-2021, 08:04 PM)GaribaldiRED Wrote: It's reassuring to see that we have so many experts around (not only on this forum but on all social platforms) who know exactly what the issues are and also how to fix them. So I'm presuming those clubs knew nothing and without a clue Gari? Apparently it's only CH and his team of coaches that haven't got a clue. How difficult can it be :D Look, it's tough managing a bottom half team in the premier league. Most managers get the sack at some point for not delivering results and CH is no exception. When that is said CH had success with all of those clubs as well. But it's all about results. If you are not winning games people start questioning your ability independently of how your team are set up. Apparently it's only CH and his team of coaches that haven't got a clue. How difficult can it be :D He left Newcastle because Llambias wanted the job for his mate Pardew and it did not go down to well with the supporters, as reported at the time "Controversy once again hit the club as Chris Hughton was sacked on 6 December 2010 following Newcastle's 3–1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion. The Newcastle United board stated that "the board now feels an individual with more managerial experience is needed to take the club forward".[7] Hughton's dismissal was an unpopular decision with the fans and the players,[8] and was highly criticized by many pundits." To listen to the six fingered faithful in Norwich, Hughton was a disaster; strangely enough he managed them to their highest position in the PL since the 90's, a position they have not come close to achieving since. Brighton is a different kettle of fish altogether; Hughton managed Brighton to the pitiful league positions of 15th and 17th during his two years in charge in the PL, whereas Potter, who many think is the second coming, managed to propel Brighton to the stratospheric heights of 15th and 16th place finishes. He departed all three clubs when they were in the PL; his record in the EFL, you know, the league we are in, is second to none. How difficult can it be :D good also that some will be humble to revisit some of these threads and not just concede 'you were right' but all the how's, why's and where it goes wrong and where it all ends has been laid out in every detail. Hughton is in a pressure situation, his thinking fixed, he can't change, same outcome as Sabri, maybe even to the exact number of games. Though if you get of your huge high horse and read carefully you will see that we all wanted him to succeed, but he cannot change, it's like an alcoholic is always an alcoholic, once the pressure is on the same default behaviors click in. The only way this sequence breaks is if Hughton discards his base collective belief system, like someone who can't swim and drowning, stepping back and teaching themselves to swim under intense pressure, it can't be done. He cannot betray who he is, i respect him but he don't want anyone to get there monies worth, he doesn't care about the dads who've paid alot of money for his family to enjoy a game of footy and have something fun to celebrate. Apparently it's only CH and his team of coaches that haven't got a clue. How difficult can it be :D I'm more referring to the style of play which is very much the discussion amongst the majority of supporters. The style of play was the reason he left all 3 of those clubs ultimately. That is the topic currently, our style of play is very similar to all 3 of those teams. We have not won a championship match in 9 games it will be 10 if we do not register a win in that one. We have scored 12 goals in our last 16 championship games. That is not very entertaining by any stretch of the imagination. |
