RE: How Good Are We? - Salvatore Matrecano - 18-10-2021 Realistically Bristol D Fulham L QPR D Sheff U D Preston W 6 points would actually be a decent return in my view Best case Bristol W Fulham L QPR D Sheff U W Preston W 10 points would be excellent and we shouldn’t be wrist slashing if we lose to Fulham RE: How Good Are We? - GaribaldiRED - 18-10-2021 (18-10-2021, 12:50 PM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote: Realistically We can't loose to Fulham at home. A draw at least. RE: How Good Are We? - Strawberry Avenger - 18-10-2021 (18-10-2021, 09:09 AM)GaribaldiRED Wrote: We are 6 points off 6th place and 7 off 5th so it's definitely all to play for. We are currently averaging 2,6 points per game (5 last games). We will of course not be able to keep that up but then again I can't see us collapsing either. The next run of games will probably tell Forest fans which % bracket we will fall in. A single point takes Forest to 12th for starters just behind Bristol City. A win takes Forest within 3 points of the play offs. The Bristol City game is significant in terms of re-aligning Forest's season. SA. I love your blind optimism SA, i really do. Sadly, the reality is we may not be 12th if we get one point tomorrow due to the other matches taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday. For example, Sheff Utd take on Millwall at the same time. If one side beats the other, that takes that side up to 18 points with us on 15. If the game ends in a draw, both teams will be on 16 points to our fifteen. It is therefore imperative that we come away with another 3 points to get us potentially challenging against Blackburn and QPR, who both coincidentally play each other too tomorrow night. There is the potential for your predictions to come to fruition, but it isn't assured given the other matches taking place over the next couple of days. I'd argue currently we are better than WBA. RE: How Good Are We? - ozzyten10 - 18-10-2021 We’ve played only Huddersfield during this run who are any good. Blackpool were in similar form to us but championship newbies. Next 5 will show where we are. Fulham, QPR, Sheff Utd - anywhere near 10 points from next 5 and I think we will be onto something very decent RE: How Good Are We? - wassy04 - 18-10-2021 (18-10-2021, 10:00 PM)ozzyten10 Wrote: We’ve played only Huddersfield during this run who are any good. I'm not sure we're suddenly top 6 contenders now It's been a great run but we've also had some luck (finally, we've been due it) the same issues that existed 5 games ago still exist in the squad. I would say we're better than we looked under CH but it's way too early to crown us top 6 contenders. That said it would be great if we were... But we are not the finished article and anyone thinking we've miraculously gone from relegation certainties to world beaters will probably be disappointed. Although better, few of the past 5 games has been a perfect performance. Against Barnsley we were poor first half and until the sub on the hour mark looked unlikely to break them down Against Brum we were worthy winners but 3-0 was flattering - hitting the post twice and a wonder save from samba to keep the clean shhet. Blackpool - again i feel we deserved it but the reality is we still look fragile at the back particularly from balls into the box. Better sides will exploit that. That said, cooper does seem to helped restore confidence in the side going forward and at this stage that is the biggest difference. Grabban has almost equalled his tally for last season. He is a striker who thrives on confidence and tends to score goals in clusters so long may it continue. Zinc and johnson pose a threat to any side and seem to have the freedom to get forward. Even supposed defensive duo of colback and yates have discovered they can pass forward and are keeping the likes of garner out. But possibly the most critical difference is we have two attack minded wing backs in spence and lowe who have really helped support the attacks and counter (like early lamouchi era) Ultimately, this is no longer a relegation side but i remain unconvinced that it has the depth for anything more than midtable at this moment. Perhaps get the likes of garner, Carvalho, taylor playing well and hope that one of the yet to be seen new signings is a diamond then who knows... But i'm happy with progress and it is nice to look forward to a forest game than see it as something to be endured. Every game now seems realistically winnable rather than hopefully RE: How Good Are We? - ac_vodka - 19-10-2021 I agree with the above - we have come from a very low bar so anything would be a improvement and we have yet to contend with any injury`s but all in all a very promising start and massive improvement in how we are prepared and how the players are coached. RE: How Good Are We? - Derby My Arse - 19-10-2021 How good are we? Well we are better than what we were 2 months ago but then we couldn't have been any worse. I am not getting carried away just yet. Not unless they tore their eyes out over the last 24 years out of despair. But this game is a fulcrum shift. It's up to Forest to seize the moment. We know what can come from it. (But the curse of such moments has haunted Forest times past to flacidly not 'rise' to the occasion.) SA. |
