Just for the record I don't think we should sell anyone apart from the obvious (Cummings, Vellios, Clough, Bridcutt, Watson, Tachstidis etc.)

Think we all would rather keep the first team and build on that if we could. The problem is i just can't see who would want the players we want rid off. So funds have to come from somewhere

Firstly, PSS I get what you are saying about this being a bit of a glass half empty thread. It is also reality that every year for the last 7 seasons Forest have sold their most saleable asset. A mid table championship club is also always vulnerable to their better players being poached even if they dont want to sell. The only way out is to do a Wolves and blow FFP out the water, I cant see us doing that again, it hasnt worked for other clubs like Wednesday either.

As a reminder this time last year Norwich fans were slitting their wrists, their team had finished 14th and flogged their best player, James Maddison and watched with exasperation at a load of free transfers incoming including some donkey of a striker named Pukki.

I agree with those who have said Osborn may go which is a bit ironic if after 5 years we have finally found a system which suits him. I also wonder if I had asked the question a couple of weeks ago how many of you would have said get what we can for Carvalho.

The ones that will be very hard to sell

Osbourn, Cash, Worrall are Academy graduates so we get 100% of cash this year to spend for FFP

We get 100% of the cash from sales allocated to the current years accounts regardless.

The rule of thumb on this is all sales are registered in the current years accounts and all purchases are spread over the length of the players contract.

Incoming transfers are amortised over the length of the players contract - a player costing 5m with a 5 year contract means 1m is allocated to the accounts for each of the 5 years - all incoming transfers are registered in the accounts in that manner.

Not 100% true, we get 100% of the sale minus remaining amortisation. So hypothetically if we sold grabban for 6mil (what we paid?) and he’s on a 4 year deal say we’d only see 1.5 mil in the accounts as accounting profit.

Whereas selling an academy player means 100% accounting profit as we paid nothing for them, I think that’s what was meant.

No one is saying it is going to be easy but if we are selling players then that's the players who should be sold.
